Pharmacy Assistant
MediCORE Pharmacy is a locally owned and operated independent community pharmacy to deliver patient-centered health services in your community.
SUMMARY
To assist with the pharmacy routine functions of dispensing prescriptions and assist as needed in the delivery of pharmacy services. Participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy as described by the Pharmacy Standards of Practice to ensure patient-centered services to all customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customer and gather prescription information to enter in our digital systems

Prioritize various duties in pharmacy

Refer to the pharmacist all clinical concerns and questions from patients
-
Set realistic wait times and effectively communicate that information to the customer
-
Manage cash register
-
Provide accurate information in response to customer inquiries.
-
Ensure customers requiring counseling are referred to the pharmacist in a timely and appropriate manner
-
Manage patient phone calls and refer as needed to the attending Pharmacist
-
Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy policies
-
Receive new and repeat prescription orders either from fax or in-person patients
-
Prepare and submit orders, except for controlled drugs and narcotics
-
Adjudicate third party billing, online and manage manual third-party accounts, collecting outstanding amounts from customers, where necessary
-
Manage incoming faxes according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice

Provide administrative support to the Pharmacist
-
Accurately file completed documentation as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice
-
Generate reports, as required
-
Manage daily medication deliveries
-
Assist in prescription preparation and other professional services
-
Data entry for new prescriptions, managing refill request processing and adjudicating claims to third party payors
-
Efficiently count, measure, package and label prescriptions while ensuring all relevant information and documentation is complete

May be required to mix, reconstitute or compound prescriptions, as directed and supervised by the Pharmacist

Contribute in inventory management

Maintain proper storage of medications within the pharmacy

Ensure stock bottles are put away in accordance with Planogram
-
Maintaining perpetual inventory system in Kroll software
-
Unpack and receive pharmacy totes inside pharmacy within our specified secure environment
-
Ensure received narcotic inventory is detailed and records updated under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist
-
Stock received pharmacy inventory in appropriate location
-
Manage customer returns and expired products, in accordance with established disposal protocols
-
Verify that expired products are removed from the shelves and returned within deadline dates
-
Perform cycle counts
-
Promote marketing programs
-
Update proficiency with Pharmacy Systems
-
Comply with all established loss prevention policies and procedures
-
Maintain cleanliness of all workspaces
-
Maintain professionalism and conduct at all times
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
-
High School Diploma
-
Diploma from a Pharmacy Assistant credited course preferred
-
Proficiency on Kroll software is required
-
Previous pharmacy experience preferred

Exceptional customer service skills

Effective communication skills
-
Effective organizational skills combined with the ability to multitask
